Some of you may be wondering why I’ve not been posting? Well, to tell you the truth, there are quite a lot of reasons and I will try, in this rather rambling post, to explain some of them.
First of all, it has taken me a long time, to recover from my most recent bout of illness. I have a recurring condition and in the last year, I have been unwell a lot more often than previously. It’s taking me longer to get better each time and, as I miss so much when I’m ill, I’m finding it increasingly difficult, to get back into the swing of things, here at Weevily World.
Secondly, running Weevily World has become very stressful! One of the main causes of this stress, is the amount of rudeness I receive, both here in the comments at Weevily World and via my email and Facebook. I get people, complaining that I haven’t sent them an invitation, or haven’t read their introductory post yet. I even get complaints, that I haven’t replied to a comment, haven’t covered a feature, haven’t removed an expired code or haven’t added a new one! This sort of stress, is all contributing towards making me ill.
I also can’t cope with the applicants, who make mistake-laden introductory posts, over and over again. I simply do not have the time, or the inclination, to spend my life correcting grammar and spelling mistakes and for these reasons, I will probably not be adding anyone new to Weevily World, for a while. The only people likely to be added to Weevily World in future, are people whom my Editors can assure me will post properly. I may continue to look at introductory posts, made on other blogs, but I’m not going to read any more posts, from people who hassle me and I’m not going to keep reading the same post, over and over again, because the author can’t be bothered to do it properly, first or second time around!
Another reason I haven’t been posting, is because I’ve been unhappy with a lot of the changes made to BinWeevils.Com. Like many of you, I was disappointed when the Bank of Dosh failed to materialize and also like many of you, I don’t think making the Bin Weevil Changer for Tycoons only, was a good idea. To me, BW hasn’t been the same since that happened. Then we lost the Tycoon Mall and more recently, the Slime Pool. Last year’s Weevil Post renovations are still incomplete and features at Pet Paradise still aren’t open either. I also think far too much Dosh is charged at the Pet Studio and I feel that overall, BW are placing too much importance on Dosh and membership. I am also greatly disappointed by the loss of the Weekend Puzzle Challenge.
The “final straw” for me is the new Nestco. In my opinion, the Summer 2012 Shopping Mall revamp, which brought us Bin Mart and Nestco, gave BW one of the best virtual world shopping systems I’ve encountered, only for it to be replaced last month, with a far inferior system. Bin Weevils has lots of nest themes and with the old system, you could click on links, to find all the items. Without the “related items” links, it’s hard to be sure you’ve found all the items for a theme and there are now too many items on the page, making it harder still, to find what you’re looking for. Finally, whilst I agree that it makes sense, for all items to be under one roof, it seems a great pity to me that there is no longer a proper shop to go into.
In general, I am a big believer in “If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all!”, so I don’t want to be making posts that say “I don’t like this” or “I don’t like that”! I would rather leave BW posts to those who are happy with the game. Also, I’ve been writing about Bin Weevils for more than two years, so it’s no wonder my enthusiasm has waned. In the coming months, I will probably continue to make some Bin Weevils related posts, but I am hoping to write more posts about other games and other issues. I hope you will continue to view them.
